Frequently asked questions about van rental
The renter must have a valid driving license that allows them to drive the rented vehicle. The renter must also be at least 18 years old and fit to drive.
The renter must also have a credit card to secure the rental.
According to our rental terms, the driver must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license during the rental. However, our minimum rental age is 20, and for drivers younger than this, a ‘Young Driver Surcharge’ of €30 per driver is added to the rental price.
A regular B driving license is enough to drive vans.
Unfortunately, we can’t accept electronic driver’s licenses. We need a physical driver’s license for the rental.
Usually you can, but service availability varies. Returning the car somewhere else needs to be arranged directly with the rental location.
Returning the car to a different location comes with an extra fee, and you absolutely have to agree on the service before leaving the car at another location.
Pets are welcome on board with certain restrictions and in their own pet carrier so that they don’t cause damage or mess in the car.
You need to arrange bringing a pet with the branch before renting, because not all cars allow pets, and the branch needs to check availability for traveling with a pet.
Bringing a pet on the trip must be agreed on separately with the rental company, and we offer a pet package. Bringing a pet involves extra costs for the rental, as cars are cleaned more thoroughly after pets.
It’s a good idea to fill up the car just before returning it. Fuel is not included in the rental price, and the renter is responsible for refueling the car during the rental period. If the car is returned with less fuel, we will fill it up ourselves and charge the fee according to the price list.
Opening hours vary by location, and you can check a location’s opening hours in the location listing.
Please note that some of our locations are car pick-up points without a physical MABI office, but our staff can be reached in those areas by appointment.
Yes, you can. Most of our locations have a key return box where you can return the key outside of opening hours.
However, the time of return must be agreed with the location in advance so that we can guide the renter on leaving the keys.
Our car can only be taken to the Nordic countries for an additional fee. You need to get an export permit for the car from the rental office (extra cost), which is country-specific and must be arranged with the rental company in advance.
If the car is taken abroad without an export permit, the rental terms do not apply to any damages that occur outside Finland, and the renter will be fully responsible for all costs resulting from any damage. We charge a €150 fee in cases where the export permit was not paid for in advance, but the car has been taken abroad.
This depends on the location. For some bookings, we make a pre-authorization, but in any case, we need credit card details to cover any potential deductible and any additional charges that may come up during the rental (fines, customs fees, damages, etc.).

The renter is asked for a credit card when renting.
In some cases, the security deposit can also be paid in cash. However, always arrange this with the rental company in advance, as there may be practical differences depending on the rental company.
It’s possible to buy extra protection for our rentals, which can limit your deductible. Depending on the extra protection package, you can limit your deductible to 500€.

We can’t guarantee that the exact make and model of the car will be available for rental as shown in the example. We use car categories for our rentals that include cars of similar size.
If you absolutely want a specific make and model, please contact the location and check availability.
You can change the car class or reservation schedule as long as we have the desired car class available or free cars for the new time you want. We always try to arrange all changes whenever possible, but we can’t guarantee that it will work out.
Please contact the location where the car was rented if you need to make changes to your reservation.
We don’t charge a separate fee for reservation changes, but if the price changes based on the length of the reservation or car class, the total amount of the reservation may also change.
There is a small delay in receiving a booking confirmation for reservations made through the website, as we only send the confirmation once the location confirms the booking.
The booking confirmation will be sent by email, and if needed, our location will also contact the renter by phone.
Please also check your spam folder if you don’t see the booking confirmation within 24 hours of making the reservation.
Rental prices vary depending on the time, car class, and availability at the location, so there isn’t a single up-to-date price list for the service.
Our promotional prices are the same across locations (e.g., Car for a Month campaign), but otherwise rental prices vary. The most current prices can be found by searching based on location, car class, and period.
We don’t guarantee the same price later.
When you enter the discount code you received into the booking engine or on our booking page, you’ll automatically see the discounted price for your reservation.
Some of our discount codes are for one-time use, while other codes can be used multiple times.
Basically, it should work, the matter can be arranged directly with the branch.
We send a text message to the rental customer or call the renter. We provide the car’s license plate, location, and instructions on where and how to get the car key.
You can get the key from our office or from key boxes that work with a code.
You’ll get detailed instructions on picking up the car from us before the booking, and our customer service is happy to help in case of any issues.
This depends on the location and the branch. If the car is picked up from our branch during opening hours, our staff will be happy to help you get the car ready to use.
If the car is picked up from our collection point, there might not be any of our staff on site unless arranged separately. Please get in touch before your booking starts if you need special instructions for getting the car ready.
Within opening hours, we recommend contacting the branch or our customer service. In an urgent situation, please contact the 24h Assistance roadside service.
All cars have a parking disc. Some of the discs are stuck to the windshield, while others are traditional parking discs that can be found in the glove compartment, the driver’s door, or the center console.
The renter is responsible for parking fees during the rental period. If parking fees occur while renting the car and the renter doesn’t pay them, they will be charged to the renter afterward. In addition, we charge a €25 handling fee.
Get in touch with the office immediately if you know you’re going to be late. A short delay of under 60 minutes may not incur extra charges. Being more than 60 minutes late could possibly result in an additional day’s fee. Still, contact the rental office, as we’re happy to be flexible whenever possible.
If after your rental you find some of your personal belongings in the car, we will take them to the rental office.

During the winter season, a snow brush can be found in our cars in the trunk, under the back seat, in the doors, or in another visible spot.
The snow brush is the rental company’s property, and if it is missing from the car at the end of the rental, the renter will be charged. A missing snow brush will incur a charge of €30.
If the rental has been agreed on a 100 km/day basis, any excess kilometers will be charged retroactively after the rental according to the rental agreement’s price list.
